From the President

Happy Spring! We’re just back from this year’s National Art Education Conference in New Orleans, and we have very exciting news for you. First- You can congratulate our own Deb Barten of the Mukilteo School district, who has been elected as the NAEA Pacific Region Vice President, beginning in 2010. This means that she will be coordinating and representing the activities and work of a 16 State/ Province area on the NAEA Board. Congratulations, Deb! In addition, two of our members received recognition at the National level: Faye Scannell of the Bellevue School District received the Pacific Region Secondary Art Educator of the Year award, and Ginny Lane of Olympia was recognized as the Washington State Art Educator of the Year. If you know Ginny or Faye, congratulate them on the hard work and dedication to our field that this level of recognition represents. Last but not least, we had word that the NAEA is considering holding the annual National Conference in Seattle at some future date. This would represent a great professional development opportunity for you, our members. Stay tuned for more information on the possibility of this exciting event! -

Your Co-Presidents, Ann Morgan and Joye Melby
