Why have I chosen to become a member of WAEA?WAEA Member Comments:
I am a WAEA member because it is my professional organization and
an opportunity to develop leadership, instructional, and art
educational abilities. WAEA also assists in promoting art education
in my classroom, building and community. Without NAEA/WAEA I would
not have been able to complete the National Board for Professional
Teaching requirements. WAEA is by far the way to go from a good to
great art educator!

Two main reasons I am a member of WAEA.
1) To get ideas for lessons from other art teachers.
2) To visit with friends that I have gotten to know, but do not see
often enough. I do enjoy presenting at conferences and the
conferences get me excited about what I do for a living.

I am a firm believer that people need the Arts in their lives to make them a better, more full-rounded person. Art helps people learn and understand other subject areas more than just drilling and regurgitating information. We process over 30,000 visual images daily. It just makes sense.

I became a member to be informed about Art Education, get new ideas, samples, and see what is outside of my art room.

To continue to grow as a teacher, to collaborate, to share ideas I have about social justice and arts, to lift my spirit!
