​​WAEA Leadership Retreat 2023
Jan. 14th and 15th, 2023 in Seattle, WA.

WAEA board members, committee chairs, ESD and division reps... plus ANYONE interested in serving in a leadership role in WAEA is invited to this FREE business and pleasure retreat planned out over two days.
We will have both virtual and optional in-person opportunities.
​

There will be opportunities for fun art activities, door prizes, and workshops to grow yourself as a leader through art, interactions, movement, and more!

Please be aware that this opportunity is open to ALL MEMBERS and there is no leadership role too small. We welcome your voice and ideas to continue making WAEA the best possible organization it can be!

Day 1 Saturday, January 14th@ University Child Development School in Seattle, WA

  • Leadership and Membership Meeting
  • Virtual and In-Person Option

  • Catered Lunch

  • Building Capacity – Setting Goals and Creating Accountability in ED&I Presenters: Ray Yang, NAEA Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion & WAEA Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Committee;
    • Virtual and In-Person Option
    • 1.5 clock hours available for WAEA members.
3:00 - 5:00
  • Hands-on Art Workshops: Felted Circuits with Ben, SAM Museum on museum/school partnerships, and maybe more.
  • In-person Option Only.
  • 2 clock hours available for WAEA members.
6:00 - 8:00
  • Join Becky and Jess in building the community of WAEA by going to dinner somewhere!

Day 2 (In-Person Components) 11:00-2:00
  • SAM- Seattle Art Museum Workshop with Yaoyao Liu the WAEA coMuseum Rep.
    • In-Person Option Only
    • 3 clock hours available for WAEA members.
    • @ Seattle Art Museum
    • We will be engaging in a workshop focused on our newly reinstalled American Art galleries and then collaborating as we tour the exhibits.

University Child Development School, UCDS, 
Address: 5062 9th Ave NE, Seattle, WA  98105 

Parking: Use the church parking lot across the street from the School- Blessed Sacrament Church. 

We share their large parking lot, and the entrance is on 8th Ave (west of school). (It is surrounded by a chain link fence.) Please do not park in any spots with "Church Only".

Use the pedestrian exit (east) follow the stairs to 9th Ave and the school is straight ahead.

Enter by the Pedestrian gate - use the buzzer marked Labyrinth to be let in. Just let them know you are here for WAEA.

Meetings do not earn Clock Hours.
ED&I Section = 1.5 clock hours (virtual and in- person)
Felted Circuts and SAM Museum Talk = 2 Clock Hours (in-person only)
SAM Museum Workshop and exhibit tour @ SAM = 3 clock Hours (in-person only)
