Melissa, nationally recognized advocate for student choice and self-propelled learning in the art room, will share the Power of an Open Art Room.


Melissa Purtee is a National Board certified teacher in Raleigh, North Carolina. She currently teaches high school visual art and AP Art History, but she previously spent years as an elementary art teacher. She is a member of the TAB, inc Board of Directors and co-author of both Making Artists and The Open Art Room, published through Davis Publications.
